Our 3 yr. lab has had numerous ear infections over the years. I switched him to the Free Range Lamb after talking with our Global pet food store lady. She recommended this brand and honestly it was maybe a week and we saw that chronic ear infection totally clear up. He is a much happier guy and loving the fact that he doesn’t need those ears cleaned daily!!!

    Hello
My 9 yr old goldendoodle was recently diagnosed with pancreatitis. I have been feeding him 1st Mate duck and pumpkin but have to switch as fat content is too high for him. I see you have a pacific fish for seniors at 8%. Do you have other dogs with pancreatitis on this food?

    Hello Anne,

We are sorry to hear about your dog’s issues with pancreatitis, and we appreciate your interest in FirstMate to support their health and well-being.

It is important to first note that our company does not manufacture medically specific diets. Although our products have been used successfully in the past in managing certain medical conditions, including pancreatitis, we recommend customers speak to their veterinarian before changing diets when a medical condition is of concern. As we do not produce a medical specific diet and use a mix of natural ingredients there will be small variations in the colour, size, shape and inclusions of our nutrient profile between batches. This variation is typically very small and we regularly test our nutrient profiles. Nevertheless, natural variation makes it difficult for us to provide maximum values for components such as fat.

It’s possible our grain free Pacific Ocean Fish Weight Control / Senior formula could be an option for your dog: https://firstmate.com/product/pacific-ocean-fish-weight-control-formula-for-dogsfirstmatepacific-ocean-fish-meal-weight-control-formula/ Our guaranteed analysis for fat in this formula is minimum 8% as fed. I have reviewed some historical data and the value tends to not vary by more than 2%. Therefore, the fat can be expected to be less than 10%. We do have some customers that find this formula is suitable for management of their dog’s pancreatitis, but as mentioned above, veterinary guidance is recommended.

    Best wishes,
    Wendy Vandersteen, PhD
    Manager of Research and Development
