There’s a long-standing myth that pets look like their owner’s, and it’s not without evidence. Have you ever noticed a resemblance between your friend and their pet? Have you ever noticed a resemblance between… you and your pet? While the majority of pet lovers say they love all type of cats or dogs, they’d be lying if they said they didn’t have a secret preference! Cats and dogs come in all shapes, sizes and temperaments, and even scientific studies (coupled with market surveys) suggest that the type of furry friend you choose reveals a lot about your personality. The outcome is actually quite exciting! But before we dig into the nitty-gritty personality details, know that if you’re a pet owner you’re most likely a social and empathetic person. Stereotypes are what they are: an over-generalized belief – but you may be surprised by how much of it is true!

To have a little bit of fun, we’ve created a list with the most popular breeds and what they say about your personality!




You’re inquisitive and love learning new things. You make great, long lasting friendships and bring joy to the lives of your closest loved ones. You love new experiences and will always jump at the chance to be a part of one!


Although you can appear intimidating and don’t give up easily, you are really sweet. You’re known to have a super fun side – but also for your stubborn ways! Either way, you have a teddy-bear quality deep down that keeps people gravitating towards you.

Golden Retrievers and Labradors

You’re known by all for your affection and kindness. You’re like cozy cuddles but also have a love for outdoor adventures. You’re highly sociable and what we call “good eggs”. Easy-going, honest and loveable.
