The most common approach of introducing healthy oils and fats to a dry diet is top coating the kibble and tumbling to mix the oils. While this the standard, at FirstMate, we take a different approach and infuse our essential fats and oils during the last stage of production using a specialized piece of equipment called a vacuum infusion system (VIS).

After this, the healthy fats and essential oils are added to the vacuum infusion system and the air is reintroduced in stages.
This process pulls essential fats and oils into each and every piece of kibble. This ensures that every batch of product is evenly infused and nutrient-rich oils are present throughout our finished diets.

Our dry products are extruded at a minimum of 93 Celsius for no more than 60 seconds. This process helps to ensure a highly digestible, pasteurized diet. The VIS process you mentioned is the last stage before packaging our product. We infuse our essential fats and oils at room temperature. Our unique process helps to ensure continuity throughout each batch of product.
