Bought this food for my cat who likes dry food better than wet, but I like her to have some wet food several times a day in small portions. Most other foods when I put the dish down, she approaches, takes a bite or two, and goes off. The food can sit there for hours and hours, and often it turns into rock and goes to waste.
So I read reviews on chewy.com and found this food. It was more expensive than the other canned foods I’d been buying, but I decided to give this a try. She loves it!
The beautiful maple leaf lid is easy to peel off the can. The food is very moist, and not with that jelly like stuff I’ve found in other canned foods. There is very little smell, as other turkey moist foods I’ve tried, the smell is powerful and I hate opening the can. Plus these smelly foods increase the smell of her stools.
She eats this pretty fast, and it doesn’t become hard and go to waste. I’ll continue to buy this food for her as the extra cost pays off in the long run.

This is my cats rating of course. One year old male Maine coon/Persian. Feed him twice a day, third of a can, either chicken or turkey, with FM chicken blue berry dry, slightly more volume. He can’t wait to tuck in. This line was recommended by pet food supplier (globe pet food). No reason to change, cat happy, me happy. Company should also make cat treats. Highly recommended.

I have a special needs cat with multiple issues that required me to move all four of my cats off kibble and on to wet food about nine months ago. The conversion has been a struggle and the little gal behind the whole thing has proven to be both the pickiest and to have the strictest limitations. She can’t digest the gum additives in most foods and finding affordable canned food with no gums has proven nearly impossible. I make my own food (low cost but a huge amount of work) but have to supplement 50/50 with canned to keep her interested. Just last week my daughter discovered First Mate at a local natural pet store and we bought two cans…and Hallelujah, she loves it! ! I am going to buy more today to make sure it’s not a fluke before ordering whole flats, but she plowed through the chicken and seemed to enjoy the turkey I gave her this morning just as much. Thank you for making such a healthy, highly palatable product! You may have saved my sanity!

My cat goes crazy over all the FirstMate canned foods. She will tolerate other brands, but with FM she dances around my legs in anticipation and then licks her bowl clean every time. It smells like real food too, especially the salmon. If you buy the large cans, and a plastic lid, you get a good deal. I have recommended to many friends so far!

This food pretty much saved our 16 year old cat’s life. He was vomiting often and couldn’t hold down food for long. Losing weight. We must have tried a dozen other brands and countless flavors. Finally we came across First Mate. He loves the food and it sits well with his stomach. He eats mostly Turkey, but some Chicken as well. He has gained back weight to a healthy level.
